If you use Beforerowcolchange instead of After..., you can remove the lag of the selected column/cell. However, it's somewhat tricky to work with, and I never did get it to work correctly with the pageup/pagedown keys (not that it can't be done, I didn't spend a lot of time on it).

Basically, you need to put SKIPs in the Grid Beforerowcolchange before you change the colors with this approach, you move the pointer programmatically from the keyboard input...
