I remember about 5 years ago that Accountmate partnered with IBM to produce a version of their software (I believe written in VFP) that would run on the AS/400. I don't know any of the implementation details. But, it certainly was an incentive to open up a new market for Accountmate, as their software was about 1/5th the cost of comparable AS/400 accounting software.

Again, I don't know the implementation details, but it might be worth checking with Accountmate, if you can get any info out of them.
