Perhaps you should reconsider this idea. If I ever ran an app on my computer that changed my resolution in windows I would immediately destroy that application and never consider another product from that company. It is MY computer and I will determine what my resolution is.

I think many users would feel this way. It woukld be a better idea to determine what the resolution is and configure you application to work at that resolution.
