My point wasn't that it would help in using Windows but in providing alternatives to MS.

I think we all should be willing to *pay* for good alternatives to MS. What is most interesting about Linux is not that it is free, but that it provides counterbalance. If Apple came out with OS 10 for Intel based machines I would gladly dedicate one or two of the machines I already have to Apple.
