I don't know, but maybe the "history of Fox" thread and website will have the answer<g>!

I've always attributed it to the "forgiving" nature of VFP. It avoids runtime errors but gives results which one assumes are valid, but which can cause trouble later in calculation or storage. Either way, I guess, you have to protect your app from those issues.
