I am just now getting time to read UT. I had this exact same problem in the past week with VFP7. It made no sense. My program (like yours) ran fine in development mode but would not run on Win98 run-time (same machine - insufficient memory) as well as 5 other Win98 machines I have. I checked the dll's etc. The run-time app ran fine on WinXP. I just went to my backups, one at a time until I found one that worked (4 days old). Then I copied code that I had changed from the more recent backups. In about 4 hours, I had my app back where it was (I'm sure I will find something missing in the next week or so) and it works fine on all machines as always. I still have no idea what it was. I have had things like this happen over the years and I just don't have time to narrow it down to the exact scx, vcx or whatever with a control character in the header, etc. For me, I am happy this happens once in a while so I go ahead and make that backup even though I have a lot of other things that I need to do. My advice, make frequent backups, at least once every time you make a significant change to your code.
