I gave you 1 reason why I could not use append. Not because of speed.
My date field in the text file is "20011202" , you can not drop this into
a date field with append. The 1st field is eaither 3 or 2 characters long.
If it is only 2 characters long I have to append an "x" to it ie: "ap " to
"apx" and there is other data that needs to be masaged before it goes into
the table. I did weight your suggestion. But for my situation it was not
the way I wanted to do it. I'm not stubborn. There is a lot of things I have
to do to the data before it gets put into the tables which you didn't know about.
I did appriciate your suggestion Cetin. By the way where is Izmir?
