>How can i avoid the 'TOO MANY FILES OPEN' in Windows XP? I know that putting PerVMFiles=255 on the System.ini solves the problem in Windows Me but this is not the case in XP. Please help

You need to adjust the custom environment for the application PIF; select the program, right click, select Properties, and adjust the environment variable settings or the existance of a FILES= statement in a custom CONFIG.NT for that particular app. Because of differences in the nature of the OS configuration files, there are consequences and drawbacks to trying to set a more global definition.
