Title:
VFP BUG Reporting and tracking
Mark M. has reported that we can expect nothing to change as regards exposure of the VFP BUG List.
While I think that the reasoning is a bit dated myself, it is what it is and until some acceptable way to have more information made available is figured we have to continue to do with next to nothing, at a pace slower than a snail's.
So what about at least doing something on the user reporting side of things????
IF any person who has reported a bug could have the minimal feedback that the reported bug has been reproduced and so is accepted OR could not be reproduced and so has been dropped, then at least some useful progress would be made. Better than reporting into the abyss that is today. We have seen enough evidence right here on UT that it sometimes takes significant extra prodding to get a reproducible scenario.
I'm NOT saying that MS should come up with dialogue between submitters and debuggers (though that would be most sensible) when MS can't reproduce a reported bug. I am saying that MS needs to find a way to INFORM a submitter of one fo the two possible outcomes: reproduced and logged, *or* DROPPED. That way a submitter could at least submit another, with more information.
Surely the wizards of MS can come up with a nice clean simple way to achieve this without unduly burdening their people with 'excessive' paper work!
