The whole .NET SDK, including CLR, was 143Mb. This has not changed (much). The CLR has always been around 12Mb or so, though.

Well, it's kind of like Win32. If the four Win32 DLLs aren't there, you're app won't run, so include them in the OS.

>From what I have seen, .Net will make it a snap to build windows services. Also, the debugging tools in .Net are pretty sweet. For example, you can create your own counters that can be read by PERFMON.

You can already create perf counters with the what MSFT has already released, sweet though it is. I think perfmon can read them, but I use other tools to handle that, so I'm not sure. I thought the option was there, though.
