Nadya,

For your reference, there is one other thing thou shalt not do with indices that include BINTOC(): use collating sequence other than "MACHINE". This will implicitly convert to UPPER(), and do some other things, too.

Collating sequences are sometimes used for non-English applications, to ensure correct sorting of characters with diacritical marks (accents, etc.).
