I tend to use the numeric codes as well, for that reason, there is a subset of names that is consistent, but the full set is not as reliable as the numeric values.

I also found in the same directory the straight HTML version & XML/HTML versions of files to display special characters (eg accented) as well, they're all zipped up together.
