>VFP not being a .Net tool won't have native Web controls for WEB apps to be compiled as ASP+; you leverage the new capabilites of ADO.Net; DLL Hell is still there; platform issues from PC to mobile phones; and if Linux gains significant OS crowd, CLR is just ready for deployment and your apps will be ready for crossplatform, etc.
Rent a clue, Jess; these issues are easily addressed by realizing that all of an app need not be written in a single language or run monolithically, DLL Hell is neatly avoided in 7 by using an adequate installer and the native resources of platforms like Win2K and XP (if you think you can write an adequate installer for cross-platform deployment without the Windows Installer technology, you're either willing to spend a tremendous amount of time duplicating the internal functionality of the Windows Installer, or dumber than a box of hammers.) And that Linux will gain a significant place on the desktop has slightly less probability than the world getting hit by a rock 1km in size or greater by the time Linux achieves significant market penetration, but that's opinion.
Stop bullshitting yourself. You're either afraid that management will expect you to get some real work done, or that you can't move to a new platform safely.
