This was a pseudolayout of the table tha manager could use.
>table appmgr appname c , path c , run l ,starttime dt,running l ,runcheck dt, stoptime dt

also on appmgr startup each record should flag .running with .f. and then start all apps where run = .t. and running = .f. so on a normal appmgr shutdown all app would be marked run =.f. but on an abnormal shutdown( server bounce whatever) any apps that were running would be restarted.
