>>Yes, many thanks. There were exactly the kinds of issues I was looking for in my questions regarding client/server setups that never got answered. Any other issues or experiences along that line would be appreciated.

You know my situation, Novell network, etc. The only thing that I think that I may be in a position to answer your question regarding SHARE. I don't think that it's required in 32 bit Windows. I do recall that when originally loading the developement copy of FPW on the network, that SHARE was required. Then again, that's Novell and 16 bit Windows.

Not really. Our setup is a NT network with both NT and '95 workstations. The registry on each workstation can only be updated by someone with "local administrator" access. In the past, this was restricted to our company's LAN Administrators, but with the advent of VFP 5.0a, and seeing several threads mentioning "re-install VFP" as the fix, I convinced "them" to grant me local admin access, which I used ONLY to uninstall and re-install VFP. When, as a regular user, I tried working on my project, I got error messages on startup (see thread in trouble shooting) and was unable to generate a menu. When I logged on as a local administrator and brought up my project, there was no startup error message, and the menu generated with no problems. I can now logon as a regular user again and change my applicaiton to my (or my user's) hearts content.

So the problem turned out to be the network setup, and permission to access the registry. This explains why I did not have this problem on my home PC - it is a normal stand-alone machine.

If I run into any other problems that are solved by using local admin access (which really means writing to the registry) I'll be sure to post them her. George has suggested I put together a KB article, which I'll do from home since my management thinks the internet (and the UT) is a waste of time - I disagree, but that doesn't matter to them.
