Barbara,

Have fun with Sheridan. I was on their original Calendar OCX beta (under VFP3) and it was a pretty miserable experience. We found out how broken it was, and they weren't interested, basically. Somebody asked on VFOX how a particular Sheridan control worked. The answer was "very well by Sheridan standards." <g> Their products are interesting; but basically I look elsewhere, for responsive development teams. I've found DataDynamics and dbi-tech to both be very responsive; where there's a problem, they're anxious to fix it.

>Several of you asked about the Calendar OCX that was being displayed. Unfortunately, the presentation showed an application for an outside client, so I have no code which I can upload. (Sorry, Jose & Carol.)

>The Calendar OCX was from Sheridan Software, www.shersoft.com. It was VERY impressive. You could see 1 or 3 months at a time, highlight a series of days and set them to any style (color, font) desired, all for multiple people. The applications used this data to assign 120 people to tasks, and the available dates were linked to their skills when showing which people were free for which tasks.

>John said he added a shell around the OCX for some extra data handling, but that the OCX worked perfectly except for 2 buttons which showed strange behavior. He added two new buttons over the old and was in business.

>The second half of the presentation showed a little of the user interface, and how they use a 2-layer set of objects. A bizobj layer which handled all data changes and an userobj layer which handled just the visible drag-drop routines. Quite impressive, and easy to update.

>Magie Duddy (who works with me) won the PUTM doorprize. When she shows up, tell her congratulations! No, I didn't fake the prize drawing ;-)

>I looked at the Sheridan web site, and they are a VB site. However, John said there was no problem using the Calendar OCX in VFP. They're asking for beta testers for a new OCX, and I signed up telling them they should test it in VFP. Why don't some of the rest of you do the same and show them WE are at least as important as VB. We'll push their results clear over to our needs! < eg >
