Mike,
All excellent points. The Goverment doesn't want to hear the facts. Look at California, the people voted to leagalize pot for medical reason's and the Fed's ignore it. How much power does the majority really have. I'd much rather follow a toker than a drunk, any day of the week.

Tony

>>This speaks to the difference between addiction by 'hard' drugs and addiction by chemicals like alcohol and nicotine. Alcohol suffocates the user, producing the well known 'drunken' state or worse. As expected, nicotine accelerates the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter (defined) associated with pleasure, emotions and addiction, but not nearly as great or for as long a time as cocaine or heroin, which work the same way.
>
>Where do you draw the line between criminalizing and decriminalizing a "high" and a "great" high as you put it? Experience? I'd like to hear your reasons.
>
>And no, cocaine, does not last longer than alcohol or nicotine effects. So thats not an issue.
>
>>No one lost their rational reasoning process by smoking tobacco.
>
>Thats only because we've become desensitized to it. Oh, I smoke, so I get to stop working for 15 minutes while I puff. Or, oh, I'm dying of cancer, but its not my fault, I think I'll suit.
>
>>And except for a few percent of any population that will become immediately addicted to alcohol after only one drink, few lose their rational reasoning abilities after drinking in moderation (one or two drinks tops).
>
>You can same the same thing with doing Cannibis or herion in moderation too.
>
>Here's another inconsistancy in your post. Why is it illegal to smoke a little bit of cannibis, or take a little bit of mushrooms, but legal to consume alcohol until you die?
>
>>But, EVERYONE looses their rational reasoning ability after a single 'hit' of cocaine or heroin, and that irrationality stays with them after they come down from the 'high'. The next 'hit' is the total focus of their attention. Nothing else matters. Lovers, wives, children or other family, friends, religion, country, or any responsibilities which takes them away from their all consuming task of getting the next 'hit'.
>
>No, not "EVERYONE", the majoirty of people. Just like ciggerette smokers. However, the same chemical reaction can occur by gambling, eating chocalate, or having sex. That stuff is not illegal. Why are drugs?
>
>>As for as society is concerned, a coke-head is a dead weight.
>
>Thats funny, a former coke head is now our elected president. Sounds like another of your generalized exagerrations.
>
>>I found out later that he was high on pot.
>
>I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. If he got drunk before his performance, woudl you be telling us that alcohol should be prohbitited?
>
>>Besides, why repeat history?
>
>You said this and mentioned nothing to back it up, but you did make a point in saying that farmers could get high and not hurt anyone, and the cocaine was easily attainable in soft drinks consumable by all.
>
>How about this, lets not repeat history by allowing governments to declare war on its own people (the war on drugs).
