Does anyone know if there's a way to play and control 2 audio files (WAV, MIDI, MP3, WMA, CD audio) simultaneously, i.e. where one would have a continuously playing (looping) background sound track (neutral music) and an optional foreground (voice) sound track that, when enabled, would play in conjunction with the background sound track. We would like to independently control (start, stop, pause, adjust volume) both the background and foreground sound tracks.

Does the MCI Win API support this type of capability? My understanding is that MCI is a relic of 16 bit Windows. Is there a newer Multi-Media API that we can (should?) take advantage of? I'm open to using a 3rd party DLL or ActiveX if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks!
