>>I hope Ed or George can help you more on this problem. I can not even try it on my work Windows 95 machine, since I don't have Shell installed (George provided an info how to install it, but it seems like too many hassles). At home I have Windows 98, but it's a local computer...

What I've decided to do at this point is go ahead and use the enhanced GETDIR(), since MOST of the users (about 300 of the 400+ that currently use the application) have WinME or Win2K Pro anyway. In the cases where the user has Win98, they will probably just need to keep the drive mapped and use it that way (or type in the UNC by hand rather than selecting it.)

Patric,

By any chance are you using VFP 7.0? If so, you don't need the Shell.Application object, since you can pass optional parameters to GETDIR() to have it call the SHBrowseForFolder() function.

While I haven't been able to find documentation indicating a difference under Win98, I have a feeling that it's the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a Win98 box here, but I do at home and will check there.
George
