Tom,
I firmly believe that we only pass this way once, so we better experience as much of life as we can manage.
For some people that may mean burying themselves in the labyrinth of software development, but for me I also like to include an active physical life (skiing, skating, running, hiking) with music, travel and overall interest in current affairs.
Fortunately this doesn't leave me with 100 hours (never mind 140) to apply to the daily grind of a professinal career. I know that I deserve to rot for this lapse - and I would apologize but I don't have time: I'm going skiing!
