The main beef I have had with classical guitars is with the neck and the fingerboard. Maybe I just haven't played the "good" stuff but most of them seem too flat and too wide.
I have a '62 Levin (jumbo steel string acoustic) that has been with me since its birth and has the scars to prove it.
Glad to hear that you intend to keep up the playing. Which Flamenco players do you like (past or present). I always liked what Paco Pena did, but I also appreciate the more "authentic" style as well.

When I was in the military I spent about a year on the rock of Gibraltar. As part of the celebration of the creation of the Royal Engineers (first formed as separate corps in 1776 in Gibraltar) we were "required" to attend a concert in an auditorium carved out of one of the famous tunnels that are all over the rock. Needless to say most soldiers went only grudgingly expecting to be bored out of their skulls. By the the time William Gomez and the orchestra played the last few notes of 'Concierto de Aranjuez' there was hardly a dry eye amongst them - a very memorable moment.
