The 3rd parameter of CreateObjectEx gives you the ability to specify an interface. If you don't specify anything, IDispatch is used.

What is the COM object you are working with? If you have the OLE Viewer that comes with Visual Studio 6 or the Object Browser in VFP 7, you can open the type library and see what interfaces the object supports.
