This would be my guess. Do you have 'Share Connection' checked? If so, when you open a single remote view (rv) a connection will be established. When you close that view the connection is closed. If you open a second rv while the first rv is open, the second rv will use the connection established by the first rv and will open much more quickly than if it had to open its' own connection.

In a large application we just completed installing, an rv is opened in the beginning of the framework and left open. All subsequent rv's (and any SQL pass through statements) then share this same connection and open rapidly.

For your test program open one rv and then time how long it takes to open a second rv. This will let you know whether it is a problem with establishing a connection or some other problem.

We used the default settings and had no problems.

Good Luck,

Gerry
