The group headers - objtype=9 and objcode=3.
The group footers - objtype=9 and objcode=5.

Yes, the coordinates are the only way. There's an article 'Demystifying Visual FoxPro Report Files' by John Koziol in August 2000 issue of FoxTalk that discribes it in details. You can also download an dig into his Frx2World class that comes with source code.
