I would like to add user Help facilities to the applications I am developing.
I particularly like the format used in the MSDN Visual Studio Reference CD.

The VB documentation from Microsoft has frequent references on how to link to a help file, but there is little said about how to actually create such help files.

The book, MS VB 6.0 Component Tools Guide, says that help files can be created through the "Microsoft Windows Help Authoring Kit", available from Microsoft Press.

I have gone to the Microsoft Press web site and could find no mention of such a kit.

Going to the MSDN web site, I found some references that Microsoft is moving to an html help system. It explains what it is (uses std html code) but doesn't say anything about how a developer can actually create one that can be linked to his application.

Can anyone help me understand how I can create a help file?
