>Yeah, Hawaii even used the SSN on the driver license. Can you believe it?

They used to do that here in Utah too.

>BTW: It's not quite as easy as not signing digitally. In order to protect your privacy, you should only pay cash and never ever, give anyone your name or phone number.

I don't do that either. One supermarket chain here has these stupid discount cards. I refuse to shop there because they ask too many personal questions on the form. They don't need to know that Craig bought item XYZ in order to stock it. All they need to know is that item XYZ was purchased.

>Of course, that means that you can't subscribe to a magazine, or even sign up for a phone line. And no electricity. I guess if you really wanted it, you could do that. But how about water? No water would be tough... :-)

I only give the information when I feel it appropriate. I can't tell you how many times I've downloaded Real Player and always register as joe@joe.com. *g*.

>Friends of mine used to work for a company that sold information about people. I'm telling you: It's scary! People know what kinds of credit cards you have, and when and where you spend your money, and for what.
>And BTW: None of this is linked to your SSN. Those places have their own way of tracking you.

Yes, I understand this. However, I like to protect what I can and since the law is on my side when it comes to SSN, it's easier to protect that.
