It might be an issue with some system files then. Your best bet is to apply the latest service pack for VB which will update some system files along with your VB files.

Also I have read in the newsgroups that comcat.dll might be a source of this problem. Try unregistering, deleting and copying the one from your VB6 installation CD and re-registering that one if the service pack does not work.
