On the second and subsequent trials I get the error in less than a second, too. I'm pretty sure Windows caches the results of the scan. If you were doing anything that accesses the same Windows data it might have already been cached.

After failures in VFP7, I tried in VFP6 SP5 and VFP5 SP3. Same problem in less than a second.

I restarted my machine and tried it again in VFP6; same problem (after the 12 second scan).
