>I am using a mapi client to send email from our application. In my call send parameters assigning the subject, recipient(s), message, and attachment(s). The first two paramters are username and password. The documentation says that if no username is given then the default username and profile are used. Right now I am not sending parameter 1 and 2 and it works on my work station just fine. My question is, I have a password on my mail client and the function sends mail without asking for a password, when do I need to furnish the password? If I change username to other than the default or what?

When the MAPI service requires an identification other than the default Windows userid and password, you need to specify values for these items. By default, if the client prompts for security identifiers and none are provided, the Windows login userid and password are provided; if you have not logged into Windows (ie cancelled out of the Win9x login) the values are indeterminant.
