Your system at work may be the security issue. When intellisense registers the web service I think that is a one way read process. That is it reads the fine wsdl file for all it needs to register. The security on IIS or maybe a firewall may only let the service pass one way. However if you install IIS on your system at home you should be able to install the service at home and access it.
