FWIW, I use Oracle. However, I don't think you need to to give an opinion to your question. "Unbreakabilty" is simply a marketing hyperbole, IMO. Redundancy and fail-over make down-time unlikely but not impossible. The odds are against everything failing at one time, but it could still happen. It's just that the more duplication points you add, the lower the odds. 9i claims to make implementing more points cost effective. Of that I can't say.

We haven't upgraded to 9i. The simple reason is that we use very large applications with Oracle as the data store (e.g. CostPoint, PeopleSoft). Oracle is upgrading so fast, the application vendors haven't had time to certify their applications on the new platforms. It's not good business to upgrade the underlying platform if the applications won't run on it. < s >
