We are starting to work on cross language development here. In other words, the VB team and the VFP team want to work together on projects. The intended approach is that the VFP'ers will write ActiveX servers that do the business rules and the VB guys will write the interface/SQL stored procedures. So far, so good, we have the skill sets in place for this. The problem is, as a proof of concept, I demo'ed a VFP 5.0 ActiveX server returning some SQL data to an Excel Spreadsheet. The problem is, I can't seem to get Excel to release the object reference. Consequently, after you quit Excel, Excel continues to show as a non-responding application in the task manager. Hmmm. I've tried setting the object reference in Excel to NOTHING, but nothing helps. I know I've heard criticisms of this behavior around before, but never paid attention to it because it was not somewhere I wanted to go then. Has anyone figured out how to make VFP release the object reference in the calling program?
