I don't know of any particular software but:

- Bar code readers can insert characters into the keyboard buffer. No special software is needed here.

- Some Thermal Label Printers have embedded bar code fonts. Eltron by Zebra Technologies is one.

- There is a bar code font package from Hallogram that is a combination of fonts and source code utilities. Works great for laser printers.

- You might settle on your bar code symbology first (Code39, 2of5, UPC-A, etc..) before buying any hardware or software.
