at the start of your program place this:

SYS(3050,1,100000000)
SYS(3050,2,100000000)

i had similar problems when running select distinct on a 1.8 gb file...
file map error..... this takes care of it.

you should add these two lines to a startup.prg and set it as default in your options, startup in vfp.
