I didn't say you have to use the registry, just that it's the recommended way. BTW, I used to work for a defense contrator where the registry was locked down. SUCKED BIG TIME. We had a way to unlock it when needed.

Which basically is the entire Navy computer network, equipment, etc will all be under the control of one organization. The initial testing has shown the registry to be locked down. So if we cant get them to open up writing to the registry then other ways will have to be employed.
