>I would like to get a client away from the old dot-matrix W2 forms next year and thought about creating a W2 form within the report writer to print all on blank paper. The IRS website leads me to believe this is not OK to do, but I've been told that Quickbooks prints onto blank paper (although Quickbooks is not an option here).

Could I suggest you look at
www.1099-etc.com. They have a product that will handle what you want to do (print forms on blank laser paper - it is special stock that is perferated) without having to mess around with the IRS forms. The IRS is very picky about the forms and laser generation is just not that easy to do (BTW, I was "with" the IRS for 10 years). All of their forms are IRS approved. It's a great solution.
I have several customers (corporations) who I generate 1099's and W-2's for. This product costs me $300, it's just not worth doing any other way.
Their product allows you to import your data into their formats very easily (I use the FP merge "\,\\" statements for formatting. If you decide to go this way and need any help, let me know.
