When entering into Display Properties again, it is still the same. I then reselected my monitor type and that also didn't change anything. Something is locking up that mode. It must be related to the driver itself. I have a builtin VGA on board which is Intel 82815. I downloaded the latest version and the installation went ok. I reinstalled it several times. The installation always goes well. But, it doesn't show 1024 mode.

I got little bit confused. Did you install Standart VGA driver or Super VGA 1024x768 driver? If the first than it wouldnt give you resolution higher than 800x600. Otherwise your video driver doesn't allow higher resolution.
