Hi!
In my applications (and in the applications I have ever seen) section "MAIN" is always used as a main (header) section. I just did not mesed with this and used "MAIN" section always as a default sectin. Then I have a procedure in APP that accepts section as a parameter. If section parameter value is nto passed, I use "MAIN" as a default section.
HTH.
>I have to get entry values from an .ini file (srcsafe.ini, fwiw) that are not in a section: they are in the header of the file, before the sections. I'd also like to write to that non-section. Other than alines() <s>, how is this done? The WIN32API functions seem to always write a section, even if it's a blank ([]) section.

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs
It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
