Well for a start, if it`s not a big application, you could write an application server, that will sit on the server and wait for the queries from the client application that run around the state. If i`m not wrong , you could check here in the Download section, where i remember seeing a small VFP server app., that is an app that will remotely execute any VFP command ( locally on a server ) returning only the results. What kind of configuration do you have, ane how are the clients ( around the state ) connected to the server?

>These are completely new topics to me. How do each of these help the specific problem and where do I go to learn about them? Thanks.

>>If the workstations that connect to the server are on a LAN, then you shouldn't see any speed change. If they're connected through a WAN, then you should install Terminal Server and look into Citrix Metaframe to achieve 'near LAN' speeds in WAN.

>>>I have been given an application that has about 400,000 records in two tables and then a few more tables scattered around. It runs fairly quickly on one machine but if you put it out on the server and then the people around the state hit on the application (only about 5 people at a time max) it is incredibly slow.

>>>The client believes that Foxpro's native setup whenever doing a SQL statement is to pull the entire contents of the tables across the network into local memory and then do the SQL statement. Is this true? What can I do to make the SQL statement happen on the server and only the results be sent to the client?

>>>If you need more information (and I'm sure you probably do) please let me know. Thanks so much in advance for any assistance you can give.
Why do programs stop working correctly as soon as you leave the Fox?
