Okay... My point is that the person who creates the client application is not necessarily the same person who acquired the database engine. Nonetheless, the SQL Server OLE-DB Provider is separately available from the base SQL Server product. The question asked is why is VFP treated differently.

What makes this scheme ridiculous is that any VFP developer could post a utility app for free that has the VFP OLE-DB Provider - and be entirely within the bounds of the license agreement.
