If that is so, then why is the VFP ODBC Driver freely available? Wasn't that work worth something? Why the change in philosphy?
Access is a file-based database system, isn't it? Why can you get the Jet provider independent of Access? Employing your reasoning, MS is making a mistake here.

server, you have essentially the same product. When you give a file based database a new server interface, you have a different product, and the Fox team must feel that their work is worth something. I don't blame them.
