I don't know why our results differ either ... I used WAIT WINDOWs in the methods and I thought maybe that's the difference. Tried it again with your method (the StrToFile) and I still got the same results as before ... which are different than yours. Very strange ... tried it in both VFP6 and VFP7 with the same results in both.

I remember reading Drew's article before ... might go back and dig it up again anyway.

Oh well ... thanks for the interesting diversion today. <g>
