Lately (!) I have similar problems, with various messages like "the website may be in maintenance" (similar), or just "the URL could not be retrieved" (just had that a few minutes ago).
At retrieval rather often just nothing happens (a few times a day only), which seems to "reside" in a complete thread; once another thread's message is retrieved, the other works again.

This wasn't before, and doesn't bother (me) toooo much. But something's weird.
