PMFJI ... if your object ControlSource is MyTable.MyField and MyTable is at EOF(), then that object will be disabled on the form ... so, what's the point of a "phantom" record. I'm not quite sure what's going on in this situation though.

It's record number is one greater than recc() (unless you have buffered records with negative recno()s); sometimes it's handy to check between(recno(), 1, recc()) to see if you're on a real record or on the phantom.
