Hi
Our code wouldn't be of help because it was unique to the semaphore system that was orginally built into the application architecture.
Also, we have rarely experienced this kind of problem in other applications in which we let VFP take care of the file and record locking (and then, only on the Novell 4.x OS). Our problem was solely related to some progrmamer some where in the history of this particular application deciding to semaphore record locking in Clipper.
We never did unravel the Novell issue, since what I know about Novell wouldn't fill a teaspoon. We worked around it by passing the workstation ID to a VFP table (associated with User IDs). All workstations on the LAN were identified in the table. Then during the logon, we validated both UserID and workstation ID against the table, therby assuring a unique workstation ID logon for each physical machine. Kludgy, but it worked.
Regardless, the problem you described sounds like a failure to release a record lock, whatever the cause on your Citrix system. This explanation would seem to account for all of the symptoms you mentioned.
PS Any Novell Heads out there? Do you know what Novell OS level command can be passed to Novell by VFP to explicitly release file and record locking?
