Sure - NT/Win2K/XP can all reference a UNC consisting of an IP address and sharename given adequate rights, or you can provide anonymous access to the database via COM services; create a DCOM server or multithreaded DLL to accept requests and execute commands, and then hand back any of a number of object types to represent files, views or recordsets.
