>>>Does anyone have experience of incorporating Geographical Positioning System software into a VFP environment? I know there is something called MapObjects LT2 which provides ActiveX controls. If anyone knows of any other products or has any advice they might feel would be useful, I would delighted to hear.

Okay okay, for what it's worth then (about zilt :(

One of our app's modules logistically manipulates (directs) rented cars to places where they are needed (or moves them out from area's they are superfluous);
The cars can be picked up by members, and parked anywhere they want f.e. in the shopping area or a party. A party lasts longer, so the car is left at a general parking place at 600 M at maximum.
Now another picks up the car, and our app "feels" that the parking place has a (number of) car(s) too few, and orders "bycers" to get a car overthere.
Now another person puts a car at the same parking place, and "maximum stock" is reached, so there comes a bycer again to get the car to another parking place where it is needed.

So, really nice (and unique) logistics, but a story which won't help you much;

A car itself can send many messages to the central system (our app) which is done by SMS. Bycers can get messages (SMS) by the system;
Each car is continuously tracked by GPS, which is done my external hard- and software, and which is just put into our app by means of an interface (real-time). So, the app knows which car is where i.e. at which parking place etc.;
Messages exist to tell the system that the car's fuel tank is getting empty, and the app will turn the car out of order, and sends an SMS to the nearest Bycer in order to fill up the car. So, the car can't be taken by a normal "user". At the moment a Bycer is driving the car from A to B and the fuel tank gets empty, the Bycer will get an SMS to stop at fuel-place X.

Well, all this is known to our app via GPS locations, but sadly for you it has nothing to do with ActiveX controls etc.;
Each car is shown on usual GPS-screens (similar to we have in our normal cars), and yes, I can imagine that this could be shown via some nice control from within our own app.

So I'm sorry not to be much beneficial. Anyway, note that GPS is to 5 M accurate, while lots of people still think it is 50 M or so (for military reasons). Nowadays this just works beautifully.

HTH some way ...
