>I still comment out code even for my Web Applications. It has gotten to be a habit and allows me to see what has already been done and why. When the manager or client comes up to me and says, ?Remember the behavior of that method I had you change last week? Well, we want to revert to the previous version?!

I was just lucky to learn this from someone else. Back in Cobol days, some (in-house) user has demanded that a certain total should be printed on the left side, not directly under the column. My boss ordered me to do it, and when the user left the room, just said "how many versions do we keep?". This was a PDP with RSX OS, and it kept up to 255 versions of any file, unless you purged it.

A week later, it was "you can delete the latest version now - she just called and asked which idiot has put the total to the left".
