I am not sure if this would be more involved than you would prefer; but, one thing I have done with VB is to write a couple of simple applications that use winsock to send and/or receive strings on a specified UDP port. Depending on the string passed you can have the VB application which is residing on the workstation start a variety of processes. In this way you can start a process on the workstation from the server or any other PC. If this interests you and you would like some assistance with the code, let me know.
