We have a W95 machine that has successfully been running a Fox App for several years. W98 was installed over W95 and now the app doesn't work. It gets "Program Error! Invalid Path or FileName". We tried reinstalling, but came up with the same error. We reinstalled to a different directory and still got the error. We have the Fast Pentium patch installed. We checked the properties...all is well there. We have our own version of a toolkit that works, but when we tried to do a DOS command (!dir), we got the same error in that app too. It makes me think there is a setting within the W98 machine that is not allowing certain FoxPro 2.x commands to be executed with the app.

We have isolated the problem in the code to either a !MD command or a Set Default command. When we ignore the "Invalid path or filename error" we get into the system, but it can not find procedures that are linked into the EXE. So, we know that the path can't be right, or it would have found the procedure in the app.

We got smart and tried to install on the LAN (all of the above was on the C: drive). It still didn't work. We tried access the program from a different W98 PC on the LAN and it got the same error.

Finally, we installed on yet another W98 machine to the c: drive and it worked on that machine, proving the install disks are ok.

What's the problem with installing W98 over W95???

Any ideas?
